Please read through the four categories of frequently asked questions (General, Appointment, Billing, and Nurse).

If you do not find an answer to your particular question, please feel free to contact us.

1. Do you offer payment plans for account balances?

These are considered on an individual basis. Please contact the billing office to discuss your options.

2. Do I have to pay a co-pay at my follow-up appointments?

We require any applicable co-pays to be paid at each visit, regardless of the reason for the visit. This is also required by the insurances we are contracted with. If it is determined, after submitting the claim to insurance, that no co-pay was needed, we are happy to refund the co-pay as long as there is no outstanding balance on the patient’s account.

3. Why did I get a separate explanation of benefits for my pathology?

Any specimens we take in the office are sent to a pathologist for diagnosis. These charges are billed to your insurance separately from our office.

4. Do you use the pathology lab as indicated by my insurance?

Almost always. However, if the provider needs a more definitive diagnosis or a second opinion, your specimen may be sent to another pathologist that may be considered “out of network” by your insurance provider. Please call our office with any questions or concerns.

5. Why did I get an explanation of benefits and/or a statement from Galveston, Texas for my pathology?

Dr. Ramon Sanchez, in Galveston, Texas is the dermatopathologist we use most frequently. He specializes in pathology of the skin, and has been working with Summit Dermatology since 2000. He gets pathology results back to us quickly and his tests are less expensive for our patients. He also accepts most of our insurances and is willing to work with those he doesn’t.
